Parents and children all over the county are double checking their school supply lists and picking out the perfect first day of school outfit. Butterflies and first day jitters abound, but for parents with children on the Autism spectrum a whole other kind of anxiety sets in. They worry about their children being bullied, about whether or not the new teacher has special needs experience, about how noisy the hallways might be and if their child will experience any sensory meltdowns. All of the worries are normal, but to help ease the transition into a new school year Tally Autism has created a set of handouts that include an “All About Me” printable to give teacher a quick “snap shot” of the students needs. as well as a 5 page Autism Basic Education handout that covers a brief introduction of Autism and SPD, plus 10 tips and strategies for the classroom.
